Editor Mission Statement

I believe editing should never feel like a punishment. My mission is to be the editor writers are not afraid of. The one who understands that not every word in a manuscript was written under perfect conditions, with perfect focus, and unlimited time. Some sections were crafted with care. Others were written at midnight, fueled by caffeine, deadlines, exhaustion, or the simple need to keep going. All of it deserves respect.

I work with writers who love their stories but are tired. Writers who use em dashes, AI tools, messy notes, copied paragraphs, half-finished thoughts, and chaotic drafts to get the story out of their heads and onto the page. I do not care how the story was created. I care that it exists and that the writer wants help making it clearer, tighter, and more intentional.

My approach to editing is collaborative, kind, and honest. I will point out what is not working, but I will never shame the process that got it there. I do not believe in tearing down a manuscript for the sake of rules or ego. I believe in finding the sections that did not receive the author’s full attention and helping them rise to the level of the rest of the story. Editing with me does not look like a red pen massacre. It looks like clarity without cruelty. Guidance without judgment. Feedback that helps a writer finish strong instead of feeling stripped down.

I edit to support the voice, not silence it. I edit to make stories land, not to make writers feel small. If something needs to be called out, I will do it honestly, but with empathy, humor, and respect. Think less firing squad, more pink tutu, messy bun, and a well-earned energy drink. My goal is simple. I want writers to walk away feeling proud of their work, confident in their voice, and excited to share their story, not afraid of it.
